Compatibility: Scid vs. PC and Scid 5.x
Currently, two different versions of the software are widely used. The tried-and-true Scid v.s PC/MAC uses the *.si4 database format, which is limited to a maximum of 16,777,216 games. Scid 5.x released in 2023, on the other hand, uses the new *.si5 format and can easily manage several billion games. Simply download the database that matches the version you have installed.
Monthly Updates In addition to the complete main databases, you’ll also find our monthly update files here. These files contain a concise compilation of all new games added since the database’s last major release.
Important Note for Windows 11
Note on the New License Dialog Box
I’m sorry that the download process now requires one extra step. The database is free for end users, and I want to keep it that way. Unfortunately, there have been instances of license violations, particularly the commercial use of data that is licensed for non-commercial use only (CC BY-NC 4.0). That’s why I need to have you confirm the license, at least briefly.
Each file can only be downloaded once every three minutes.
For you as a private user, nothing changes: Just click “Download,” check the box, and download the file. The confirmation is valid for one hour. Information on how the data is processed can be found in the privacy policy.
Thank you for your understanding, and enjoy the games!
